1. Foundation  / 成立背景 

      Polar Bear Photos was founded on 18 August 2018 by photographers and editors concerned with long-term documentary practice. It operates as an independent photography platform.    

      白熊图片社创立于 2018年8月18日，由关注长期纪实实践的摄影从业者与编辑发起，是一个独立的摄影平台。        

      The platform emerged from a shared observation: in an era where images circulate at increasing speed, forms of viewing grounded in duration and editorial judgement are becoming rare. Polar Bear Photos was established to create a slower, more attentive framework in which photography can unfold through time.       

      平台的诞生源于一个现实观察：在图像传播速度不断加快的时代，真正基于时间积累与编辑判断的观看方式正在变得稀缺。白熊图片社的成立，正是为了建立一种更缓慢、更审慎的影像框架，使摄影能够在时间中展开其意义。

2. Editorial Position  / 编辑立场  

      Polar Bear Photos focuses on documentary photography and family narratives, with particular attention to long-term projects and sustained practice. The platform is concerned less with immediate visibility than with how images take shape within lived experience.       

      白熊图片社关注纪实摄影与家庭影像，尤其重视长期项目与持续性实践。平台更关心影像如何在现实经验中形成，而非即时传播所带来的关注度。        

      Editorially, the platform emphasizes:

      Through ongoing editorial recommendations and long-term follow-up, the platform gradually builds an archive of projects worthy of return and reconsideration.

3. The Polar Bear Family Photography Award (PFPA)  / 白熊家庭摄影奖 

      Established in 2024, PFPA is held annually and focuses on family narratives and long-term photographic projects.  
      白熊家庭摄影奖（PFPA）创立于2024年，每年举办一届，关注家庭叙事与长期摄影项目。        

      The award serves both as recognition of practice and as an extension of photographic inquiry, supporting work that expands visual expressions of family, intimacy, and generational memory.       

      该奖项既是对实践的肯定，也是对影像研究的一种延续，旨在发掘并支持拓展家庭、亲密关系与代际记忆表达方式的摄影创作。        

4. Team / 团队 

      Polar Bear Photos operates through a small editorial structure composed of photographers, editors, and researchers. Project-based collaborations are formed according to each annual programme.       

      白熊图片社目前以小规模编辑结构运作，由摄影从业者、编辑及研究者共同参与。根据不同年度项目与计划，平台会与外部专业人士进行阶段性合作。        

      The team structure will continue to evolve as the platform develops.       

      团队结构将随着平台的发展逐步完善。        

5. Vision  / 愿景  

      Polar Bear Photos regards photography as a long-duration practice rather than a stream of consumable images. The platform seeks to foster a space where projects accumulate meaning through time and repeated viewing.       

      白熊图片社将摄影视为一种长期实践，而非即时消费的图像流。平台希望构建一个能够让作品在时间中沉淀、在重复观看中获得意义的空间。        

      Based in China, the platform maintains ongoing dialogue and collaboration with international photographic practices.       

      平台立足中国，同时保持与国际摄影实践的持续交流与合作。
